Horse Racing

The first record of domesticated horses goes back to 4500BC to the nomadic tribesmen and since then, this kind of competition has remained a favorite. This sport has been played in major civilization from the Mediterranean across to central Asia. Back as far as 638BC, Chariot Races as well as Mounted Horse Racing events were part of the ancient Greek Olympics and the Roman Empire had their fascination with horse racing also.
Today, this event that was once only for nobility is now the second favorite sport in American, second only to Baseball. Just what is it about this sport that beings spectators from their homes to a track to watch jockey and animal work together? Not only race tracks but sports bars and pubs too.
Some say it is the power that draws them to this kind of race and others will say it is tradition. Then there are those who will say it is historic event of importance and the social get together of a day at the track. But it is also a place of legal gambling, sweaty horses and the thundering sound of hooves as the pass by the fans.
